Some have argued that Daoism, for instance, is not a philosophy as it evolved long before the western concept of philosophy was established, but this is typical of local bias inflicting rules on a global basis. Philosophy is broadly understood to be a domain of pondering self and environment, certainly the sense in which I use it, and all non-god religions fit comfortably within that framework.
